The SMH’s Natassia Chrysanthos and Shane Wright have stepped up their lobbying for Big Australia immigration, claiming that One Nation’s immigration policy would “drive up national debt” by $275 billion, based on the Parliamentary Budget Office’s (PBO) Build Your Own Budget Tool:

“Pauline Hanson’s three-year negative migration scenario would also reduce Australia’s economic output by $212 billion by the middle of next decade, when there would be 820,000 fewer taxpaying workers in the economy”, the SMH journalists wrote.
“Based on One Nation’s desired immigration levels, by the middle of next decade the country would have 820,000 fewer people in paid employment. That has a flow-on impact on personal income tax, company tax and GST collections”.
