Not before time, the SMAGE is dying.
Nine’s newspapers will slash 30 journalists across their metropolitan mastheads, with The Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne’s The Age bearing the brunt of the cutbacks.
In her 9.31am email to staff today, Nine’s publishing boss Tory Maguire made no specific reference to job cuts, but company sources told The Australian that 30 jobs will go, mostly from the SMH and The Age, with a small number to come from the group’s digital-only Queensland outlet, The Brisbane Times.
