As part of the campaign strategy for the 1992 U.S Presidential Election, political consultant James Carville came up with a slogan that first defined the internal focus of the Clinton and later the broader public campaign for the presidency.
“It’s the economy, stupid”
Carville concluded that the focus of the American people was on the economy and that there was fertile ground for a campaign based on improving the finances of American households.
