At the heart of the housing issue across the developed world, there is an incorrect assumption, one that has complicated the path ahead for countries with high migration in particular: the idea that Baby Boomers would downsize.
The idea was that when empty nesters entered their golden years, they would see their family home largely empty and downsize to something more appropriate to their current living space needs.
But this hasn’t happened nearly as much as people expected.
