Since the Albanese unveiled its changes to negative gearing and the capital gains tax discount on existing residential property, it has set off perhaps the most predictable round of opposition and controversy in Australian political history.

Unsurprisingly, the Coalition continues its more than 40-year run in opposing changes to negative gearing and has pledged to wind them back should it regain power.
